Stadtpark Steglitz, Urban park in Steglitz, Germany
Stadtpark Steglitz is a 17 hectare green space with multiple ponds, broad lawns, mature trees, hornbeam hedges, and a central fountain dating to 1957. The layout provides a varied landscape with different water features and green areas designed for various activities.
Garden director Fritz Zahn and inspector Rudolf Korte transformed marshy lowlands into a recreational landscape park between 1906 and 1914. This transformation laid the foundation for the green space that exists in Steglitz today.
The music pavilion built in 1958 hosts regular weekend concerts during summer months, featuring classical, jazz, and traditional performances. Visitors can experience different musical genres in an outdoor setting while enjoying the park surroundings.
The park includes multiple playgrounds, a mini-golf course, a traffic school, and well-maintained paths accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. Visitors can use different entrances and explore the various facilities based on their interests.
Five ponds throughout the grounds connect to natural groundwater sources, with Goebenteich serving as the largest water feature. This natural water circulation makes the park an important habitat for plants and wildlife.
