Atlantic-Haus, Office building in St. Pauli, Germany
Atlantic-Haus is a 21-story office tower in St. Pauli that rises 88 meters high with continuous glass facades overlooking the port on all sides. The building occupies a central position between the active harbor and the densely built entertainment district.
The building was completed in 2007 by architect Thomas Herzog as a symbol of the harbor district's commercial renewal. Its construction marked a turning point in the modernization of this traditional port area.
The building reflects Hamburg's shift between a traditional port city and a modern business hub, with its glass facades bridging maritime heritage and contemporary design. This blend shapes the quarter's appearance and shows how the city reconciles its historic roots with new functions.
The building is very easy to reach and sits directly beside major public transportation hubs with streetcars and buses passing through. Its immediate proximity to Reeperbahn makes the quarter lively with many paths to explore throughout the area.
The tower was intentionally designed with curved glass elements that reflect light differently throughout the day, giving the harbor panorama a dynamic appearance. This optical quality is especially noticeable during early morning hours and at sunset, when the structure glows dramatically.
