Krepelschrofen

Krepelschrofen is a mountain summit in the Wallgau area that reaches about 1160 meters elevation. From the peak, hikers enjoy expansive views toward the Karwendel and Wetterstein ranges as well as the upper Isar Valley.

The Wallgau region has deep roots in Upper Bavarian alpine history and was traditionally a center for local crafts and farming. The mountain itself became known in modern times through hiking routes that carry stories of the surrounding area.

The trail begins at the village center in Wallgau, where traditional Upper Bavarian farmhouses display intricate Lüftl frescoes on their facades. These painted decorations reflect the artistic heritage and craft traditions of the local community.

Access to the starting point is reached by train to Kochel followed by a bus ride to Wallgau town. Hikers should wear sturdy footwear and bring appropriate gear depending on the season and weather conditions.

A modern mountain shelter with semi-open design offers hikers a place to rest and sit while gazing at the surrounding peaks and valleys. This newer structure replaced an older building and serves as a welcome stopping point during the climb.
