Simetsberg

Simetsberg is a mountain summit in the Ester Mountains reaching about 1836 meters, featuring changing slopes and rocky sections throughout. Multiple trails wind through the terrain with different vegetation zones and open viewpoints visible as you climb higher.

These mountain routes have been used for centuries as connecting paths through the region, linking smaller settlements together. The established trails show how locals gradually opened up access to the area over generations.

Local mountain guides share knowledge of Alpine flora and geological formations while leading groups through established paths to the summit.

The ascent starts near a railway station and takes about five hours for the full route. It is wise to begin with plenty of water and food, and be prepared for changing weather conditions at higher elevation.

During the cold season, the terrain becomes a destination for snowshoe hiking with specially marked routes. These winter versions offer a completely different experience of the mountain under snow-covered conditions.
