CongressPark Wolfsburg, Convention center and event venue in Wolfsburg, Germany
CongressPark Wolfsburg is a facility with multiple halls offering approximately 4,800 square meters (51,600 square feet) of space, including a main hall of about 1,600 square meters (17,200 square feet) and smaller side rooms. The complex can accommodate different types of events and be adapted to various needs.
The first hall on the site was built in 1957–58 to a design by Peter Koller, seating up to 3,134 people and including a teaching swimming pool and bowling alleys in the basement. It opened on 4 May 1958 with an exhibition on the painter Lovis Corinth. In 1962–63 the Spiegelsaal and a sports hall were added, with a relief by Peter Szaif on the east facade, and the expanded hall reopened on 1 July 1963 for the city's 25th anniversary. After a 1986 renovation costing 27 million DM, it was renamed CongressPark in 1987.
The halls host concerts, congresses and balls, while the foyers serve for exhibitions and trade fairs. The Klieversbergsaal is used as a canteen by the nearby Neue Schule. In 2013 the venue recorded 138,203 visitors, and from December 2020 to December 2022 it housed a COVID-19 vaccination centre.
The main entrance is a two-storey foyer; the building stands on Klieverhagen although its postal address is Heinrich-Heine-Straße, next to the Scharoun Theater and the Planetarium. The Klieversbergsaal serves as the canteen of the nearby Neue Schule. The halls host concerts, congresses and balls, while the foyers are used for exhibitions and trade fairs.
The Klieversbergsaal is used by the nearby Neue Schule as its canteen, so school meals take place inside the venue. From 15 December 2020 to 16 December 2022 a COVID-19 vaccination centre operated here; renting it out let the CongressPark post a positive operating result in 2021 for the first time in years.
