Scent Tunnel, Installation artwork in Autostadt, Wolfsburg, Germany

The Scent Tunnel is a 15-metre walkable footbridge by Danish artist Ólafur Elíasson, spanning a water surface inside the Autostadt in Wolfsburg. Its 4.5-metre-diameter tube weighs about 19 tonnes and holds exactly 2160 flower-planted clay pots hung in a grid structure, which turn slowly around the visitor's longitudinal axis.

The Scent Tunnel was completed in 2000 as a decentralised project of Expo 2000 in Hanover, run under "EXPO Ostwestfalen-Lippe". Danish artist Ólafur Elíasson created the 15-metre bridge inside the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, where it spans a water surface.

The installation connects visitors with nature through changing seasons. People walk through the tunnel and experience fragrant plants like lavender and sage, with the aroma shifting as they move forward.
