Meereszentrum Fehmarn, Public aquarium and zoo in Fehmarn, Germany
Meereszentrum Fehmarn is a large aquarium on the island of Fehmarn with multiple tanks filled with marine life. It displays creatures from tropical seas and the Baltic Sea across different exhibition areas.
The center was founded in 1994 and moved to a new building in 1997 where it then expanded. Further growth followed to accommodate more marine species and increase visitor capacity.
The center displays marine creatures from various regions, allowing visitors to experience ocean diversity firsthand. You can observe how fish, sharks, and rays live together in their habitats throughout the different tanks.
You can visit with family or groups and spend time walking through the different tanks and viewing areas. Wear comfortable shoes since you will be walking quite a bit to see all the exhibitions.
The facility operates a visitor center at a separate location housed in a former military observation tower. From there you can look out toward the Baltic Sea and the surrounding landscape.
