Galileo Wissenswelt, Interactive science museum in Fehmarn, Germany.
Galileo Wissenswelt is an interactive science museum in Fehmarn with two main sections: TechnikWelt for physics experiments and BioWelt exploring evolution. The exhibition spans several thousand square meters with stations for hands-on exploration and self-discovery.
The museum emerged in 2013 from combining three separate institutions: Experimenta Technical Museum, Planet Earth Natural History Museum, and Overseas Museum. This consolidation brought different collections together and created a modern learning center.
The museum teaches through hands-on interaction, allowing visitors to experiment and understand how things work by themselves. This practical approach makes scientific concepts tangible and accessible to all ages.
The museum operates seasonally: daily from April through September, then only on weekends from October onward. Visitors should plan time to explore the many stations, as hands-on discovery cannot be rushed.
The museum houses the largest Mosasaurus skull displayed in any German museum, an impressive remnant of prehistoric life. Hourly demonstrations with a Tesla coil show striking effects of high-voltage electricity.
