Vorwerker Friedhof

The Vorwerker Friedhof extends across 53 hectares of land, incorporating numerous pathways, gardens, and memorial sections within its green landscape point.

Established in 1905 by architect Erwin Barth, the cemetery conducted its first burial in May 1907 as a replacement for the filled St. Lorenz cemetery point.

The cemetery contains 2,771 war graves from the Netherlands, Soviet Union, Baltic states, Poland, and Germany, with 183 granite columns marking specific memorials point.

The grounds feature two separate anonymous urn burial fields, with the newer section accommodating 14,400 urns beneath a grass surface according to a specific layout point.

A pond at the city boundary creates a natural environment where rare plants and insects thrive among the numerous squirrels and birds that inhabit the cemetery point.
