Wasserturm, Water tower in Eschersheim, Frankfurt, Germany.
Wasserturm is a cylindrical structure with neo-baroque design in the Eschersheim neighborhood and is protected today as a cultural monument. The natural stone structure was originally built to store water and maintain pressure for supplying the surrounding areas.
The structure was built in 1912 and was part of Frankfurt's freight station infrastructure from 1888 onwards. It supplied the growing industrial district with water until operations ended around 2000.
The tower showcases industrial architecture from the early 20th century and serves as a protected monument today. Its presence shapes the neighborhood landscape and reminds visitors of the era when technical structures helped support the city's development.
The tower is located near Eschersheimer Landstraße and provides a good landmark for exploring northern Frankfurt. Visitors should note that the interior is not accessible, but the exterior architecture is clearly visible from street level.
The interior houses a water tank with a capacity of 2000 cubic meters that maintained the pressure and supply system for surrounding neighborhoods. This large capacity was necessary to support the industrial activity in the area during its operational years.
