Siedlung Höhenblick

Siedlung Höhenblick is a residential complex in Ginnheim that runs along Höhenblick and Fuchshohl streets and consists of three-story row houses. The buildings sit on the slope above the Nidda River and feature corner windows and functional floor plans typical of modernist housing design.

The complex was built between 1926 and 1927 as the first phase of Ernst May's planned Niddatal development for Frankfurt. This ambitious project aimed to create new housing for the growing city but was only partially realized.

The complex drew artists and architects like Hans Leistikow and Willi Baumeister to settle in the neighborhood. Their presence shaped how people understood this place as a home for creative professionals.

The site sits on a slope and offers pleasant walking paths with views toward the river. Access is straightforward, and the houses shape the streetscape with their regular arrangement and open spaces between them.

The site commands views across the Nidda Valley toward the Taunus heights, making it a special location. Since this is the only built portion of the original plan, it offers a rare glimpse today into May's vision for this area.
