Nordeck, Castle in Hage, Germany
Nordeck is a manor house in Hage featuring late 19th-century architectural styles and is located at Berumer Allee 5. The building was reconstructed after severe damage and continues to shape the regional landscape with its distinctive features.
A landowner and distillery operator named Edo Friedrich Peterssen built this estate in 1868 and 1869 as his residence. A fire in May 1949 destroyed the original building almost completely, necessitating its reconstruction in modified form.
The interior rooms display decorative works by artist Arthur Fitger, who arrived in East Frisia through his connection with marsh poet Hermann Allmers. These artistic elements continue to shape the building's appearance today.
The manor remains in private ownership and is not open to the public. Visitors can view the exterior from the street and explore the surrounding area to appreciate the region's historical landscape.
The original building fell victim to a fire when a roof beam in the chimney ignited and destroyed the estate to its foundations. The reconstruction reveals how the region adapted its structures to changed times and overcame historical losses.
