Frauenteich Moritzburg, Nature reserve in Radeburg and Moritzburg, Germany
Frauenteich Moritzburg is a nature reserve between Radeburg and Moritzburg with a main pond, a smaller pond called Schösserteich, forests, meadows, and agricultural areas. The protected space contains multiple habitat types spread across a large area.
The area was designated as a nature reserve by German authorities in 1954 to protect the natural environment. Regulations were expanded and strengthened by Dresden's government in 1999.
An ancient stone wall runs through the southern section, forming part of the region's long-established landscape pattern. This structure reflects how the land has been shaped over time.
A marked walking loop of about 7 kilometers starts at the Frauenteich intersection on the road between Berbisdorf and Moritzburg, with information panels along the way. The route takes you through different sections of the reserve.
The reserve serves as a critical breeding ground for many bird species, with nearly 200 different bird types recorded here. The habitats provide safe nesting places and food sources for these birds.
