EWF-Biathlon-Arena, Biathlon stadium in Willingen, Germany
The EWF-Biathlon-Arena is a sports facility in Willingen with a 2.5-kilometer illuminated roller ski track and 25 shooting lanes for small-caliber rifles at 650 meters elevation. The venue combines running and shooting disciplines within a single complex.
The facility first opened in 1997 as a roller ski track and gained its initial shooting range with 15 lanes in 2001. A second expansion in 2007 added more shooting positions and a new functional building.
The facility serves as a training hub for regional biathlon athletes who develop their skills on the course and at the shooting range. It has become an important venue where local sports clubs gather to prepare for competitions.
The site uses artificial snow systems to remain operational year-round and accommodate both training sessions and competitions. Visitors should prepare for hilly terrain and bring appropriate equipment for sports activities.
Visitors aged 16 and above can take part in guided shooting lessons using biathlon rifles and optionally complete penalty loops if targets are missed. This hands-on experience gives a direct taste of what the sport demands.
