St. Michael

St. Michael is a Romanesque church in Hildesheim featuring six towers, two transepts, and a wooden ceiling with medieval panel paintings. The interior displays elaborate decorated wooden ceiling sections and various architectural details that shape the space.

Construction began in 1010 under Bishop Bernward and the church was consecrated in 1022. This founding period places the building within the Romanesque era of architectural history.
