Tuchfabrik Trier, Cultural center in Trier, Germany

Tuchfabrik (TUFA) is a regional cultural centre and small-stage venue in the former Weber cloth factory at Wechselstraße 4–6 in Trier. The city-owned building was refurbished in a first phase covering the ground floor and first upper floor at a cost of around 500,000 DM, creating rooms for exhibitions and events. The Tuchfabrik Trier e.V., a non-profit umbrella body of 39 member associations, coordinates use of the house by free groups.

The building served as an active textile factory until it fell victim to industrial change in the 1980s. Its conversion into a cultural center in 1985 was part of the city's preparations for Trier's 2,000-year anniversary in 2000.

The Tuchfabrik Trier e.V. is a non-profit umbrella organisation of 39 member associations spanning music, theatre, dance, literature and visual arts, and it shapes a large part of the programme. Its members include the Jazzclub Trier, the KATZ-Theater, the Frauenchor Polyhymnia and the schwul-lesbisches Zentrum SCHMIT-Z. The name TUFA comes from the former cloth factory of the Weber family on Wechselstraße.

The TUFA occupies the former Weber cloth factory at Wechselstraße 4–6, in central Trier. Since 2024 a new annex has been under construction, with completion planned for 2026 and use as an interim stage for Theater Trier from October 2026; parts of the building may be affected in the meantime.

The TUFA is run jointly by the city of Trier and the Tuchfabrik Trier e.V., an umbrella association of 39 member clubs; part of the full-time staff is employed by the city in agreement with the association. Since 2024 a new extension has been under construction, planned to open in October 2026 as an interim venue for the Theater Trier.
