The Riedwiesen nature reserve spans 20.5 hectares with numerous ponds, ditches, and pools between Niederursel and Heddernheim districts of Frankfurt.
The area represents the last remaining section of the original Nidda meadows, which diminished due to industrial development and highway construction.
The protected territory functions as an educational site where visitors learn about wetland ecosystems and their role in urban biodiversity.
Visitors must stay on marked paths to preserve the sensitive habitats of amphibians, small mammals, and specialized plant species.
Two natural springs, Bornfloss and Bonifatius, emerge from Riedberg and supply water to sustain this wetland ecosystem.
