Kleine Schorfheide, nature reserve in Brandenburg, Germany
Kleine Schorfheide is a nature reserve in northeastern Brandenburg covering approximately 74 square kilometers across several municipalities including Fürstenberg an der Havel, Zehdenick, Lychen, and Templin. The area features numerous lakes such as Tangersdorfer See and Großer Kramssee, along with extensive forests, including the Himmelpforter Heide, a particularly undisturbed woodland area.
The reserve was established before 1994 to protect the natural habitats of the region. Protection regulations were strengthened in 2000 to ensure better conservation of the area, particularly on lands that formerly served as military training grounds.
The area can be explored on a few, naturally maintained trails that lead through varied landscapes. The quiet and calm make this place ideal for nature lovers seeking undisturbed time in open countryside and forests.
The reserve includes extensive areas on former military training grounds where nature now develops completely freely, creating habitats rarely found elsewhere. Visitors can experience how undisturbed nature grows and thrives at its own pace.
