Die Burg is a nature reserve in Marl and Recklinghausen covering around 146 hectares with oak forests, areas of dead wood, and floodplain zones along waterways. The site contains multiple habitats accessible by walking paths, with certain sections set aside specifically for wildlife protection.
The reserve was officially designated in 1983 and received additional legal protections in 2012 to strengthen conservation measures. An ancient Carolingian circular rampart within the area points to early fortification structures and gave the site its name.
