Röbel railway station
Röbel railway station, Former railway station in Röbel, Germany.
Röbel railway station is a former railway facility featuring a two to three-story building with timber-frame construction on its upper levels and a broad central gabled section. The structure was repurposed after rail service ceased and now contains residential apartments and businesses, with a supermarket occupying part of the surrounding grounds.
The station was established in 1899 on the single-track Ganzlin-Röbel line, initially serving passengers and later freight transport. Passenger service ended in 1966 while freight operations continued until 1996, with the facility ceasing all rail operations in 2005.
The station building displays traditional craftsmanship through its timber-framed upper sections and distinctive central gabled projection, features that remain visible today. These architectural details show how railway stations were designed during their era of construction.
The station building is located approximately one kilometer west of Röbel town center, making it accessible from the main road. Keep in mind that this is now a private property with residential and commercial uses, so viewing is limited to the exterior.
The railway line serving this station earned the Low German nickname 'Hei na Ganzlin' among local residents, a playful name reflecting how the train became embedded in regional speech. This informal moniker reveals how deeply the railway was woven into everyday life and local culture.
