Villa Gericke, Heritage villa in Potsdam, Germany

Villa Gericke is a private residential villa at Puschkinallee 17 in the Nauener Vorstadt of Potsdam. Built in 1892/93 by the architect Friedrich Gericke, a pupil of Ende & Böckmann, it is a nearly identical copy of the Villa Ende that Hermann Ende had built in Berlin-Tiergarten in 1864/65. The house and its park were restored and replanted between 2005 and 2008.

Villa Gericke is a near-identical copy of the Villa Ende that Hermann Ende built in Berlin-Tiergarten, Siegmunds Hof 22, in 1864/65. The architect Friedrich Gericke, a pupil of Ende & Böckmann, erected it in Potsdam in 1892/93 for his aunt, Frau Stadträtin E. Gericke. The original Villa Ende was demolished for the S-Bahn line, according to Irmgard Wirth in 1893.

The villa is named after "Frau Stadträtin E. Gericke", the aunt of architect Friedrich Gericke, who built it in 1892/93. He had trained under Ende & Böckmann, and the house reproduces their Berlin Villa Ende almost exactly, so the facade records a family commission and a teacher-pupil link.

The building is privately used and access to the villa is not possible without prior permission. Visitors should check in advance whether a visit is allowed under certain conditions.
