Eifel-Maar-Kaserne, Military barracks in Ulmen, Germany.
Eifel-Maar-Kaserne is a former military installation located near Ulmen in the Eifel region. The site contains multiple buildings that once housed administration offices, barracks, and training facilities, now repurposed as a public park.
The barracks were built in 1962 and served the Luftwaffe as a training base for the Third Battalion of Training Regiment 2. After closure in 1997, the grounds underwent gradual conversion for civilian use.
The site is now known as Eifel-Maar-Park and serves as a gathering place where locals enjoy sports and outdoor activities. The facilities have become part of the community's everyday life and social routines.
The grounds are located northwest of Ulmen's center and accessible via the A48 motorway and B259 federal highway. Visitors will find open spaces and wide pathways that make exploring the site straightforward.
The facility takes its name from the distinctive maar lakes that dot the Eifel landscape, formed by volcanic activity thousands of years ago. These circular, water-filled craters remain a defining feature of the region today.
