Feldkapelle, Chapel in Sonnenberg district, Wiesbaden, Germany
The Feldkapelle is a modern prayer house in the Sonnenberg district with transparent glass walls and a trapezoidal floor plan. The steel framework supports the light structure, which sits naturally within its surroundings.
The project started in 2003 under architect Hans-Peter Gresser and finished in 2012. The Matthew 7:12 Foundation financed the construction of this contemporary prayer space.
The chapel displays a bronze sculpture of the burning bush that invites reflection. The interior feels open and bright, suitable for quiet moments of thought.
The chapel is open daily from sunrise to sunset and requires no prior registration. A barrier-free entrance on the side provides easy access for all visitors.
The garden surrounding the chapel follows Japanese aesthetic principles that give the place a special meditative quality. A distinctive Corten steel cross guides visitors to the entrance and serves as a visual landmark.
