Kaisersaal, Imperial hall in Römerberg district, Germany
The Kaisersaal occupies the main ceremonial space within the Römer building, featuring high ceilings and Gothic-style architectural elements throughout the interior.
The hall gained prominence in 1612 when Frankfurt council members held their first ceremonial banquet to celebrate Emperor Mathias's coronation.
The walls display 52 portraits of rulers from Charlemagne to Franz II, painted between 1838 and 1853 by different German artists.
Visitors can access the hall daily from 10:00 to 17:00, unless municipal events require temporary closures of the space.
A glass display case contains a copy of the Golden Bull from 1356, the document that established Frankfurt as the election site for German kings.
