Schlossgarten Osnabrück, Castle park in Osnabrück, Germany.
Schlossgarten Osnabrück is a castle park in the city center with structured pathways, diverse plant species, and seasonal flower displays surrounding the historical castle grounds. The layout combines formal garden design with open lawns and shaded areas beneath mature trees.
The grounds were founded in 1674 by French landscape architect Martin Charbonnier and were integrated with the newly constructed Schloss Osnabrück from the beginning. The original formal design established the park's layout that remains visible today.
The garden features four 18th-century sculptures on the castle terrace depicting the continents, reflecting how European nobility expressed artistic taste in their surroundings. These works show how wealthy patrons shaped the visual character of such spaces.
The park features multiple entrances with paved pathways, benches, and defined areas for different activities. The routes are easy to navigate and signage points out main features throughout the grounds.
Since 2015, the grounds host an annual summer music festival bringing national and international performers to the castle garden. The historic landscape temporarily transforms into a concert venue during these events.
