Waterloo-Tor, War memorial gate in Osnabrück, Germany

The gate was built after the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 at the initiative of a wealthy citizen to honor soldiers from the city. This memorial construction reflected the importance of this distant military conflict to the local population.

The monument is located in the Heger-Tor neighborhood and is easily accessible on foot. Visitors can view it from both sides to see the different architectural treatments.
The memorial was not built at the original location of the old city gate but was placed 20 meters east of it. This relocation allowed the building to serve both functions without disturbing the historical site.
