Pförtnerhaus der Nordwolle

The Pförtnerhaus der Nordwolle is a brick building at Pappelstrasse 1A with ornate window designs and pilaster strips running up its facade. The different window formats on each floor combine segment-arched and round-arched styles within a carefully planned architectural scheme.

Built around 1900, this building served as the entrance point for a major wool processing factory that became central to Delmenhorst's growth. The site transformed the region from agriculture into one of northern Germany's key industrial centers.

The gatehouse shows how wool production shaped Delmenhorst's identity and turned it into an industrial town. Walking past it today, visitors can sense how important this factory was to the local community and economy.

The building is protected as a historical monument and can be visited as part of the Nordwolle Museum complex. Access is easiest during museum opening hours, when you can explore the industrial site and its surroundings properly.
