Stadthaus I, Administrative building in Delmenhorst, Germany
Stadthaus I is an administrative building in Delmenhorst with three stories, brick construction, and a hipped roof. The facade features decorative cornices and pointed-arch windows on the ground floor, while the interior houses various municipal departments for planning, construction, environmental protection, and traffic services.
The building was constructed in 1927 as a police headquarters adjacent to the town hall and gained monument protection status in the 1980s. A westward expansion with curved lines followed in 1994, designed by architect Christoph Parade from Düsseldorf.
The building displays design features from the interwar period and shapes the appearance of Delmenhorst's civic center. Its clean, functional form reflects the aspirations of local government administration from that era.
The building sits at Am Stadtwall 1 in central Delmenhorst and is easily visible from the street. Visitors can view the exterior from outside, and the interior is accessible for official municipal matters.
The 1994 extension displays curved lines that contrast with the original structure's geometric form, representing a later design shift. This curved architecture creates a visual dialogue between the 1920s building and modern urban development.
