Sonnenhaus Havelberg

Sonnenhaus is a two-story timber-framed building with a distinctive hipped roof located on the church square of Havelberg island. The structure features carefully appointed guest rooms with modern amenities while maintaining its original architectural character.

Built in 1735 as a clerical inspectorate and parsonage, the building was documented in Brandenburg records by the mid-18th century. Its early prominence in regional records reflects its importance to the community since its construction.

The name comes from the large south-facing windows that flood the interior with daylight and give the rooms a bright, welcoming character. Visitors and guests notice how these distinctive windows make the building recognizable and create a warm atmosphere throughout the day.

The location on the church square makes it easily accessible and allows you to walk to all major sights in Havelberg. It is advisable to check availability in advance since the small building can only accommodate a limited number of guests.

The restoration used only natural materials such as wood, clay, and lime-based paint, while preserving original flooring from the 18th and 19th centuries. This craftsmanship approach was recognized with a Federal Prize for Craftsmanship in Monument Preservation in 2022.
