Schleswig-Holstein-Haus is a two-storey, angled brick palace built from 1736 to 1747 on Puschkinstraße in Schwerin's Schelfstadt, with half-timbering on its rear side and cellars and a timber gate post surviving from the earlier Wackerbarth residence. A tall hall added in 1785 to the south side was given an upper floor in 1807, and a half-timbered coach house with timber trusses was built in the garden in 1825. Since 1995 it has housed the Kulturforum Schleswig-Holstein-Haus.

The building was constructed between 1736 and 1747 as a brick structure, partially replacing earlier elements of a bishop's estate from 1586. This transformation reflects how the neighborhood evolved from religious property to a residential area.

Since 1995 the building has housed the Kulturforum Schleswig-Holstein-Haus, named after the neighbouring state that financed its renovation. It hosts changing exhibitions and the cabinet exhibitions of the Stiftung Mecklenburg, which has had its office here since 2009. Lectures, discussion forums, vernissages, holiday workshops, art prize ceremonies and receptions take place in the rooms and the garden.

The Kulturforum is at Puschkinstraße 12 in the Schelfstadt district, north of Schwerin's old town centre. The building is a protected monument, so the historic rooms and the garden are reached on foot through the entrance on Puschkinstraße. The sculpture Konstellation by Reinhard Buch, made in 1996, stands in front of the house and marks the approach.
