The Wasserturm und Gedenkstätte auf dem Wartberg is an octagonal concrete structure that rises 38 meters above the city and serves multiple functions under one roof. The building combines water storage with memorial rooms, halls of honor, and crypts distributed across several floors.

The building was constructed between 1923 and 1928 as a practical solution for storing water for the city of Friedberg. About four years after completion, it was repurposed in 1932 to permanently honor the region's war casualties.

The memorial honors fallen soldiers from both world wars through plaques and personal names displayed throughout the building. Visitors can experience the quiet dignity of these commemorative spaces while moving through the different levels.

The building sits at Frankfurter Strasse 23 on the Wartberg hill and is reachable on foot, though climbing to the top involves several flights of stairs. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear and keep in mind that the interior spaces feel narrow and intimate.

The octagonal design subtly references the medieval Adolfsturm fortress that once defined the region. This architectural connection between a modern utility structure and local heritage shows how two eras come together in one building.
