Bono East Region, Administrative region in central Ghana
The Bono East Region spans 39,557 square kilometers, bordered by Savannah Region, Bono Region, Ashanti Region, and Volta Lake in Ghana's interior.
The region emerged through a referendum on December 27, 2018, receiving 99.50 percent approval from 450,812 voters for separation from Brong Ahafo Region.
The population of 1.2 million residents primarily speaks the Bono dialect, maintaining traditions through celebrations like the Apoo festival and Kurubi festival.
Eleven Municipal and District Assemblies coordinate local governance, with Techiman serving as the regional capital and main commercial center.
The Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary, Buoyem Caves, and Kintampo Waterfalls stand as natural landmarks within the region's boundaries.
