The National Gallery of Athens displays 16,000 artworks across three thematic floors, presenting paintings and sculptures from Byzantine times to present day.
The institution began in 1878 with 117 artworks at Athens University and expanded significantly after Alexandros Soutzos donated his collection in 1896.
The exhibition spaces showcase Greek art evolution from Byzantine period through contemporary works, including pieces by European masters and Greek artists.
Located at Vassileos Konstantinou 50, the museum opens from 10:00 to 18:00 and offers discounted admission for students and free entry on specific dates.
The gallery maintains three satellite locations in Nafplion, Sparta, and Corfu, extending its cultural influence throughout different regions of Greece.
