The park contains over 30 fossilized tree trunks scattered across 150 square kilometers between Sigri, Eressos, and Antissa settlements in western Lesbos.
The forest formation dates back 20 million years when volcanic ash from intense activity during the late Oligocene to mid-Miocene periods covered the vegetation.
The Natural History Museum of the Lesbos Petrified Forest, established in 1994, conducts research and preservation of this geological monument through four distinct parks.
The main park and Sigri park operate daily from 8:00 to 16:00, with an entrance fee of 8 euros covering access to the museum and most forest areas.
The Nissiopi Marine Park section features underwater petrified trees, accessible through glass-bottom boat tours departing from Sigri port at specific times.
