Monastery of Saint Paraskevi, 15th-century Orthodox monastery in Monodendri, Greece
The stone-built chapel of Saint Paraskevi stands at the edge of Vikos Gorge, featuring Byzantine architectural elements and religious frescoes inside the structure.
Founded between 1413 and 1414 by Michael Therianos, the monastery served as a refuge for hermits and persecuted Christians during Ottoman rule.
The internal walls display 15th-century frescoes depicting Michael Therianos with his family, providing insights into medieval Greek fashion and customs.
Visitors can reach the monastery through a 15-minute walk from Monodendri village and access an observation terrace overlooking the Vikos Gorge.
The monastery contains the oldest preserved religious structure in the Zagori region, positioned dramatically at the brink of a steep rocky cliff.
