Kokkoris bridge

Kokkoris bridge is a stone arch structure in Zagori that spans about 36 meters across a local valley to connect nearby mountain villages. The bridge is built entirely from cut stone blocks fitted closely together, with multiple arches supporting the pathway across.

The structure was built around 1750 and underwent repairs over time to maintain its strength and safety. Later renovations took place at the end of the 18th century and again in the early 20th century to keep the crossing functional.

The bridge shows the craftsmanship of local stone workers who built it with techniques passed down through generations. You can see the careful hand-fitted stones and arches that made this structure both functional and lasting.

The bridge is reachable by hiking trails that connect various spots across the region and can be combined with visits to other local sites. Wear sturdy shoes and check trail conditions before heading out, especially during colder months.

The bridge carries the name of a local miller who helped restore it, though it was originally known by a different name. This name change shows how local figures can shape the identity and memory of a place.
