Kalogeriko Bridge, Stone bridge in Kipoi, Greece
The Kalogeriko Bridge is a stone bridge near Kipoi that stretches 56 meters across the river. It features three connected arches built entirely from local stone and measures about 3 meters wide.
The bridge was built in 1814 under the direction of Abbot Serafeim. It replaced an older wooden crossing and took its name from its connection to the nearby monastery.
The bridge shows the typical building methods of the Epirus region with its stone arches. It is part of a network of stone bridges that connect the many small villages spread throughout the Zagori area.
The bridge sits between the villages of Kipoi and Koukouli in gently hilly terrain. It is accessible on foot and offers good access to the river and surrounding walking paths.
The three arches of the bridge form a pattern from certain viewing angles that resembles a moving caterpillar. This visual effect is created by the arrangement and shadows of the arches and often goes unnoticed by visitors.
