Kotychi

Kotychi is a brackish lagoon in northwestern Elis that spreads over several square kilometers and connects to the Ionian Sea. The area features shallow waters, reed beds, and sandy barriers that create varied habitats for different species.

The lagoon gained international recognition in 1975 when it was officially designated as a protected wetland site. This designation reflected growing awareness of the site's importance for wildlife and led to its ongoing conservation status.
