Monolithi, Beach and recreation area in Preveza, Greece
Monolithi is a beach and recreation area along the western coast of mainland Greece, known for its deep blue waters and long sandy shore. The site includes sunbeds, showers, beach bars, and equipment rental for water sports.
A prominent rock formation once gave this beach its name, but it was destroyed during World War II. Today, only an underwater reef remains as a trace of that former landmark.
Local people and visitors come here to swim, relax, and eat at waterfront restaurants that serve fresh fish and regional dishes. The place feels welcoming and unpretentious, reflecting how Greeks live by the sea.
The beach is easily accessible, located just ten minutes from the nearest international airport, making arrival and visits straightforward. Some sections remain less developed and therefore feel less crowded than typical resort beaches.
This beach ranks among the longest in Europe and stretches across a considerable distance along the shoreline. Its relative remoteness and limited beachfront development mean visitors can find quieter sections even during busy seasons.
