Municipality of Vrilissia, Municipality in North Athens, Greece.
The municipality of Vrilissia is located at the southwestern base of Penteli Mountain, about 10 kilometers northeast of central Athens. It is a residential area with straight streets, numerous private gardens, and shops and services spread throughout the community.
The area was part of the ancient deme of Phlya and belonged to Chalandri for many years before gaining independence in 1949. It received its current official status as an independent municipality in 1990.
The central squares of Iroon and Analipseos serve as gathering spaces with shops and cafés where residents meet and spend time together. These two areas form the social heart of the community and shape daily life here.
The area is well connected by two commuter railway stations—Doukissis Plakentias and Pentelis—and multiple bus lines serving central Athens and surrounding districts. Visitors can move easily between different neighborhoods using these transit options.
The streets here are wider and straighter than in many other Athens neighborhoods, making the area noticeably easier to navigate. This planned layout stands out from the winding street patterns found in older parts of the city.
