Preveli Beach, Beach destination with palm grove in southern Crete, Greece.
The Grand River flows through a dense palm forest before meeting the Libyan Sea, forming clear pools along its path to the shoreline.
The beach area contains archaeological sites indicating human habitation dating back more than 130,000 years, as discovered by Professor Thomas Strasser.
The name originates from Preveli Monastery, a religious center from the 16th century that stands near the stone bridge above the beach.
Visitors can access the beach through two routes: a western path from Kato Monastery or an eastern path from Drimiskiano Amoudi.
The Cretan date palm forest surrounding the river represents the second-largest collection of this endemic species in Crete.
