8th arrondissement of Lyon

The 8th arrondissement of Lyon is an administrative district on the city's eastern side that encompasses several neighborhoods including Bachut, Monplaisir, and Les États-Unis. Major boulevards link these diverse quarters together.

The district became independent in 1959 when it separated from the 7th arrondissement. Before this change, the area was agricultural land that gradually transformed into an industrial zone during the late 1800s.
