Villa Lumière

Villa Lumière is an Art Nouveau residence in the Monplaisir neighborhood of Lyon, built between 1899 and 1902. The building features ornate feminine faces adorning the entrance tympanums and glass roof, which showcase its early 1900s architectural character.

Antoine Lumière built this residence near his factories to reflect his family's growing success in photography and film production. The house became a symbol of industrial prosperity during a period of rapid technological advancement.

The house now contains a museum dedicated to cinema history and the cinematograph invention by Auguste and Louis Lumière. Visitors experience the spaces where these innovations shaped the world of film.
