Narbonne, Administrative commune in Occitanie, France

Narbonne lies 15 kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, with the Canal de la Robine flowing through its center, dividing the city into northern and southern sections.

Founded in 118 BCE as Narbo Martius, the city became a Roman colony and the capital of Gallia Transalpina, marking the first Roman settlement in Gaul.

The Cathedral of Saint-Just and Saint-Pasteur displays northern French architectural elements, featuring a 42-meter-high choir and two unfinished square towers.

The central railway station connects Narbonne to Paris, Barcelona, and Toulouse through regular train services on main transportation routes.

The former Archbishop's Palace houses two museums containing Roman artifacts, paintings, and ceramics, making it the largest episcopal palace complex in France.
