Perros-Guirec, Coastal commune in Côtes-d'Armor, France
Perros-Guirec is a commune in Brittany that stretches along the northern coast, encompassing several beaches and residential areas. The town consists of an older core near the harbor and newer sections spreading inland.
Fishermen settled here centuries ago, using the sheltered bay for their boats. From the late 19th century onward, the area was discovered by wealthier visitors who came to the coast to rest.
The local church, bearing the full name of Saint-Jacques, was built in a style typical of the Breton coast. Walking through the older part of town, you notice narrow lanes and stone houses once inhabited by fishermen.
Visitors arriving here can orient themselves easily around the beachfront promenades and the harbor, which serve as central landmarks. Local buses connect the different beaches and run to neighboring towns along the coast.
The pink granite that juts out at certain points comes from geological processes that took place millions of years ago. These rocks have taken on shapes that remind some visitors of animals or figures.
