Château Doisy Daëne, Second Growth wine estate in Barsac, France
Château Doisy Daëne is a winery in Barsac with about 18 hectares of vineyards planted mostly with Sémillon grapes, supplemented by Sauvignon Blanc. The soil consists of red sand, clay, and limestone, which shapes the character of the wines produced here.
Georges Dubourdieu acquired the estate in 1924, beginning a family tradition of winemaking that has continued through successive generations. The property has evolved under family stewardship over the decades.
The estate blends traditional Bordeaux methods with modern techniques, visible in how the vineyard and cellars operate side by side. Visitors notice how the family balances respect for old practices with contemporary improvements in winemaking.
The property welcomes visitors year-round with tours of the vineyards and explanations of the winemaking process. Tastings of the estate's wines are available during your visit.
L'Extravagant de Doisy Daëne is a special cuvee created since 1990 from carefully selected noble rot-affected grapes. This wine ages for about 2 years in new French oak barrels, giving it a distinctive character.
