Atelier Cézanne

Atelier Cézanne is an artist studio and museum located on Lauves hill with large windows and a glass roof that the painter used from 1902 to 1906. The building preserves the workspace with its distinctive features, which provided the artist with ideal conditions for his work.

The building was adapted from an old farmhouse that Cézanne purchased in 1901 to construct his personal studio according to his specific needs. This new workspace marked a significant moment in his artistic development during the final years of his life.

The studio displays the personal objects that Cézanne painted repeatedly, such as furniture, vases, and everyday items from his living space. These belongings reveal how the artist continuously found new ways to see and interpret his immediate surroundings.

Plan your visit in advance to check current opening times, as the studio occasionally closes for renovations or maintenance work. Allow time to walk up the hill and explore the rooms and collections at a leisurely pace.

From the studio, Cézanne created dozens of paintings and watercolors of Mont Sainte-Victoire, whose distinctive shape remains clearly visible from the workshop's window. The mountain became an obsessive subject for him, painted repeatedly with different techniques and viewpoints.
