Château-Figeac, Historic winery and château in Saint-Émilion, France.

Château-Figeac is a winery and château in Saint-Émilion with roughly 40 hectares of vine plantings, where Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grow on gravelly soil. The estate features classical 18th-century buildings alongside much older structures scattered across the grounds.

The estate was originally founded by a Gallo-Roman family in the 2nd century, who built a villa at the site. Over the centuries, the older structures were replaced by classical buildings that now define the château's appearance.

The estate takes its name from an ancient family and preserves winemaking traditions that visitors can experience directly during cellar tours. The way wine is made here blends old craft techniques with modern methods, which becomes clear as you walk through the production areas.

Visitors should book ahead to join guided tours and wine tastings, which offer insights into both viticulture and production practices. The best time to explore is during quieter months, when you can see the grounds at a more relaxed pace.

Hidden in the grounds is a preserved medieval pigeon loft that visitors often overlook, despite offering a glimpse into historical farm life. The structure comes from a time when such buildings were essential to food production on estates.
