The Château Filhot estate encompasses 350 hectares of land, with 62 hectares dedicated to vineyards producing sweet white wines in the Sauternes region.
Established in 1709 by Romain de Filhot, the winery received its classification as a Second Growth producer during the notable 1855 Bordeaux wine classification.
The winery maintains traditional French winemaking methods, crafting Sauternes wines from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes affected by noble rot.
Visitors can schedule guided tours and wine tastings Monday through Friday, with weekend appointments available for groups up to 35 people.
The estate's soil composition of gravel and clay, combined with the regional microclimate, creates specific conditions for noble rot development on grape clusters.
