The stone walls of Abbaye des Chambons stand within the administrative territory of Borne, in the Ardèche region of southeastern France.
Founded in 1152 under Pierre Geofroi as the first abbot, the monastery operated continuously until its dissolution during the French Revolution in 1791.
The religious complex started as a Dalonite establishment before transitioning to the Cistercian order under the guidance of Sénanque Abbey.
The remains of the abbey structure reveal the original church outline, while numerous stones from the building now form parts of local houses.
